A Tale of two Tales

Wed Nov 25, 2009, 9:18 PM
First off, I've been off this week, which is why I've been uploading a lot, and have been much more active on here. Also, I'm still taking free requests and if you want your friends to get more attention, please send me their way.

1st tale: Me? WRITING? Woah! I've had a lot of weird dreams/ideas for stories that I'm thinking about posting on here. Would anybody like to see them?

2nd tale: Movie of the Year: I've seen three movies this year, and with the Princess and the Frog being the last possible movie I might see (and it probably won't affect this result), I can truly say STAR TREK is the movie of the year. I saw it again on DVD Saturday and wow. It's still just as amazing, if not, more amazing the more you see it. It's a brilliant, entertaining, emotional, nostalgic thrill ride that is far less complicated and less nerdy than its predecessors. Now, I like Star Trek (mainly the movies and Star Trek: The Next Generation), and many fans hate this film because "it isn't Star Trek." The problem is they thought Star Trek was great because it had a wonderful vision of diplomacy and intergalactic relations in the future. They saw The Next Generation as creating a fan's paradise: lots of new species and new technology. They failed to realize the true reason why The Next Generation and the movies were great to everybody else: The characters. The characters are very likable. As new series and new movies came out, however, the characters were lost in a sea of technobabble and diplomacy.

Then, this movie comes out.

STAR TREK puts its characters first, and the plot revolves around the characters relations and emotions, all tied together with glorious action sequences. STAR TREK is everything a movie should be. Seriously, SEE THIS MOVIE.

By the way, UP was second place. UP made me cry. A lot. Like, my family cried for 30 minutes AFTER THE FILM WAS OVER. Don't get me wrong: it's a fantastic movie that's very touching. Unfortunately, the parts where it wasn't touching just weren't great. They were good, not great. Plus, some of the jokes grew old. It's funny when the most evil dog's voice thing is first screwed up, but to have it high pitched the whole movie is just annoying. Plus, I'd rather leave a movie entertained, not feeling like my heart was ripped out of my chest.

Way behind in third place was Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I never thought I'd say last place went to Harry Potter, but then again, I never thought I'd leave a Harry Potter movie as disappointed as I was with this movie. I can handle things being left out of books-turned-movies, but to have things left out and replaced by random crap (WTF IS UP WITH RON'S HOUSE BURNING? I DON'T CARE IF I SPOILED PART OF THE MOVIE, IT MAKES NO F**KING SENSE!), it sucks. I felt no emotion at the end of the movie. None.

So, to recap: I'm on break, I'd like to watch some new artists, I'm still open for requests, I'm considering submitting stories to deviantART, and STAR TREK IS MOVIE OF THE YEAR.
